In March of this year I decided to create something just a little different with a photo I had taken of the Tower Bridge in London (see above). In a nutshell, I decided to make it more vivid, simply to create an alternative and unusual look. I felt like I was creating its aura.
It took eight years, five contractors and 432 construction workers to build the Tower Bridge. Two massive piers were sunk into the river bed to support the construction and over 11,000 tons of steel provided the framework for the Towers and Walkways. This framework was clad in Cornish granite and Portland stone to protect the underlying steel work and to give the Bridge a more pleasing appearance.
I just made it by the deadline for this week’s challenge, I am pleased to say.
Here is another version of the Tower Bridge that is for sale in my gallery.
