Why Does Hypnosis Work?

There are many factors that contribute to how we live our lives, but without a doubt the number one thing that effects whether or not we achieve the things we want, is our beliefs. We all have constructive beliefs that serve us and we also have limiting beliefs (conscious or subconscious) that are holding us back. Quite often we are not aware of the limiting beliefs that we have and how we are actually sabotaging ourselves.

Our beliefs are directly related to our previous experiences, they may or may not be true, but we believe them to be true. We create our beliefs in two ways. The first way is by what other people tell us, for example, when you were a child your parents may have told you that you were clumsy. You may also have been told the same thing by friends or teachers in school.

Once we hear something a few times we often take that on as a belief, regardless of whether it is constructive or negative.

The second way, which is the most powerful way, is what we tell ourselves. Did you know that we have over 60,000 thoughts per day of which we will think of 70% of the same thoughts again the next day and so on. Now imagine if those internal thoughts were:

I am so ugly
I am no good at math
I hate my body
I can’t quit smoking
I feel so sad
No-one loves me
I could never do that

I am sure you get the idea. By constantly thinking the same negative, self-defeating thoughts over and over again, our subconscious takes them on as beliefs and they ultimately become reality in our lives. The great news is that these beliefs can be changed into positive ones and one of the quickest and easiest ways to do that is through hypnosis.

Our desires are conscious thoughts, while our behaviours are created and motivated at a subconscious level by our beliefs. The simple process of hypnosis is the natural, safe way for us to change our beliefs to achieve what it is we want. Hypnosis is the same as using guided imagery or visualization which are the techniques that winning athletes and successful entrepreneurs use.

We all experience hypnotic states on a daily basis, when we day-dream, when we are so focused on a book or movie that we don’t hear people calling our name, when we do things on autopilot like driving and don’t remember doing it. These are examples of being in a trance-like state. And contrary to popular belief, you are NOT asleep, you are NOT in a zombie like condition and you are NOT under the hypnotist’s control.

When in hypnotic trance, our subconscious mind is 88% more alert than when we are in a conscious state. That’s why hypnosis is successful, it makes us deeply relaxed so our conscious mind can be bypassed and positive suggestions can be received by our subconscious mind. When we hear these positive suggestions repeatedly, our subconscious mind then accepts them as beliefs, which creates the changes that we desire.

Hypnosis is one of several relaxation methods used for treating chronic discomfort that has been approved by an independent panel convened by the National Institute of Health and in 1958 the American Medical Association accepted hypnosis as a viable form of treatment.

Hypnosis is probably one of the most effective and easiest ways to improve your life. It can release blocks to help you lose weight, stop smoking, make more money, overcome a fear, enjoy great sex, improve your game, release anger or to simply be happier.
